A card is a preparation item
Transport cards work on the metro and many buses, but sales, top-up points and payment methods vary. Keep enough balance after arrival and retain the card and receipt.
Tap in and out
Both taps matter for transfer and distance calculations. Check metro gates and bus readers, and avoid tapping someone else’s card for them.
Transfers include the final walk
Dense rail and buses do not remove time inside large stations or to an exit. Plan station names, number of changes and the last walk to the hotel.
Check balance and late service
Low balance can stop a trip at the exit. At night, confirm last trains, bus frequency and a taxi alternative with current operator information.
